In 1998 and 1999, Liquid Tension Experiment released two instrumental albums that set the prog world on fire. The project featured Dream Theater's Mike Portnoy & John Petrucci on drums & guitar (respectively), virtuoso keyboardist Jordan Rudess and bass legend Tony Levin.
After the success of the two albums and the project's undeniable chemistry, Rudess was asked to join Dream Theater full-time and the project was put on the shelf for an indefinite hiatis....

Back together for a select number of US dates, the quartet is reuniting to revisit the magical music they created 10 years ago and tap back into their chemistry for a whole new musical experiment!

At Dream Theater's Salt Lake City show, Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. signed a proclamation making July 30th, 2007 "DREAM THEATER DAY" in the state of Utah.
It turns out Governor Huntsman is a big Prog Rock and Dream Theater fan and had a particular fondness for Jordan Rudess being a keyboard player himself.
The band is pictured here with the Governor as well as two of his sons (one of whom is a drummer and a huge Mike Portnoy fan).

Authorized Dream Theater Book - Register now! Added on 06-28-2007
The Authorized Dream Theater book "Lifting Shadows" will soon be available to order in a deluxe "Images And Words" special edition that includes a free CD of Dream Theater music. This limited edition comprises two hardback books that are held together in a slipcase.
The first of these books is entitled "Images" and is crammed with colour photos of the band, previously unseen/unused album artwork, letters, press releases and a host of other memorabilia. "Images" is printed on luxury 130gsm art paper, measures 234 x 197mm and has around 192 pages.
The second book, "Words", contains the definitive biography of Dream Theater. It is printed on 80gsm paper, measures 234 x 153mm and has around 384 pages. The book features all new interviews with the band and a host of others who have played their part in the rise of one of prog-metals finest bands. The book's foreword has been written by Mike Portnoy. The book cover is to be designed by legendary rock artist, Hugh Syme.

Recorded at The Pantages Theater - Los Angeles, CA - March 6th 2004 However, in order for the book to be published before Christmas, we need to hit a certain level of pre-orders. Currently this is around the 2000 copies mark. Indeed anything significantly less than this, and the project may well need to be adapted due to the high costs involved in producing a book of this type. Rather than ask people to part with their money at this stage, you can now register your interest in pre-ordering the book by entering your name and e-mail address. The benefit of this is that you will be the first to know when the ordering process begins (hopefully in two to three weeks time) and will be able to guarantee yourself a copy. We will e-mail you as soon as this ordering process is available. We hope that we will be able to have the books in our warehouse and ready for shipping before Christmas.
It is imperative therefore that you register as soon as possible if you want to buy the book, as if the number of people registering is far less than the 2000 mark, the project may be in doubt. Obviously please only register once, as we will be basing the print run on the number of registrations. DREAM THEATER celebrated the 15-year anniverary of its classic 1992 album "Images and Words" by performing the LP in its entirety on Day Two of the Gods Of Metal Festival yesterday (Sunday, June 3) in Italy. Also appearing on the bill were co-headliners HEAVEN AND HELL, along with BLIND GUARDIAN, DIMMU BORGIR, DARK TRANQUILLITY and SYMPHONY X.

The new Metal Hammer UK edition (#167 - July 2007 - Dave Mustaine/Megadeth on the cover) hits the stands on Wednesday, June 6th. It is a worthy pickup for all Dream Theater fans as it contains an enormous 2-sided Dream Theater poster (approximately 30" tall x 22" wide) detailing the band's entire 22 year history. ROADRUNNER RECORDS is proud to announce the signing of progressive metal pioneers Dream Theater. A new studio album, Systematic Chaos is due in June. Dream Theater will hit the road in support of the album for a world tour, including major festival appearances in Europe.
Since their first studio release in 1989, this US based five-piece has notched up record and DVD sales in excess of six million and headlined to audiences of 20,000. Recognized by peers and public alike for their advanced musical expertise, the band (Mike Portnoy, drums; John Petrucci, guitar; John Myung, bass; James LaBrie, vocals; Jordan Rudess, keyboards) has long held the ability to combine complex arrangements with unadulterated songwriting skills, the material often underpinned by riffs as heavy as anything in the Metallica repertoire.

Prior to teaming up with Roadrunner, Dream Theater was signed to a seven-album deal with Warner Music Group worldwide. The deal commenced with the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Images And Words (1992), a Gold-certified US release, and concluded, in equal style, with Octavarium (2005), a Top 40 Billboard outing. In August of last year the band issued Score, a live album/DVD (recorded at Radio City Music Hall in New York), which went straight to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard DVD charts, knocking Pink Floyd from the top!
By the following month, the five were holed up at Avatar Studios in New York, working on the new album with veteran engineer/ mixer Paul Northfield (Rush, Queensryche, Porcupine Tree). As usual, Portnoy and Petrucci chose to co-produce the project, which features seven compositions (one a 25-minute epic), and word on the grapevine is that the Dream Theater/Roadrunner alliance looks all set to kick off with a classic.
Systematic Chaos, Dream Theater's ninth studio release, arrives at a time when the band is casting a longer-than-ever shadow across the rock and metal landscape. Their influence is being acknowledged by an increasing number of contemporary, cutting-edge acts such as Stone Sour, Trivium, Shadows Fall, Opeth as their fan base continues to grow.

We apologize to all of you who waited for months and months for the album to arrive, only to be met with a product full of glaring errors.
Your response to the situation has been great, to be fair. We know that sonically we nailed the sucker, but on the manufacturing side of things, we dropped the ball. As such, the next run of product will go out with the list of songs that you actually hear on the record. Do you live near New York City?
Do you want to have your voice on the new Dream Theater CD?
If so, I'm looking for a group of about 30 or 40 people to do some "chants" for a section of one of the new songs...and I figured it be fun to offer the job to a few lucky fans!
Here's the deal:
At 2pm this Friday January 26th, we will let a group of you into the studio to do some yelling for us...
The place:
Avatar Studios - 441 W. 53rd St (between 9th & 10th Ave)
The time:
We will open the doors around 2pm.
**DO NOT** arrive any earlier than 1pm which is when the line will form....
(fans arriving earlier than 1pm will not be permitted to line up outside)
Depending on the turnout, we cannot guarantee entry to everybody.
It will be based on first come, first serve.
You will be needed for no more than an hour, so you will be able to leave by 3pm.
**DO NOT** bring cameras or recording equipment....any found will be held at the reception desk while the session takes place.

Dream Theater's new live CD and DVD "SCORE" Added on 06-10-2006
Dream Theater's latest live CD and DVD "SCORE" is scheduled for release on August 29th, 2006, on Rhino Records. (date may vary slightly in different countries)
The 3-CD and 2-DVD sets will be available seperately.
Both versions will contain the entire "20th Anniversary World Tour" grand finale recorded live at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on April 1st 2006. (nearly 3 hours of music - over 90 minutes of which was performed with a full orchestra)
The DVD will also contain a 1 hour Documentary tracking the entire career of the band from the very beginnings at the Berklee College Of Music in 1985 all the way to the Radio City Music Hall grand finale. Including rare never before seen footage and interviews with current and previous members of the band.
Also included on the DVD are several live Bonus Tracks from through the years taken from the Portnoy Archives.

"Without going into too much detail (I promised myself and my family some rest and time away from the computer), I have to THANK all of you in attendance last night at Radio City Music Hall for helping to make last night's show one of the most incredible evenings of my life.
Of the hundreds of shows (maybe thousands at this point?) that we've done through the years, never before have I been moved on stage as much as I was last night.
There were several points in the night where I was literally brought to tears by the power and emotion in the air.
I just wanted to thank our AMAZING fans from all over the world that helped make last night so electric and magical from start to finish....you guys were the ULTIMATE audience last night!
We always dreamed of playing with an Orchestra one day and last night's performance surpassed my wildest expectations.
Jamshied Sharifi (our beloved arranger & conductor) and the incredible musicians behind us rose to the occasion and lifted our music to a whole new orgasmic level.
I cannot wait to share this evening with all of you that weren't able to attend via the upcoming DVD and CD sets that I will be working on in the coming months.
(No rest for the wicked...or at least me!)
I truly believe last night was the PINNACLE of our 20 year career thus far and an incredible ending to the latest chapter in DT history.
How the hell will we top it???????????
